MRSA – this abbreviation stands for Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (also Multi-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and refers to certain bacteria that cause purulent inflammations and are resistant to antibiotics. Infections with these multiresistant pathogens are increasing worldwide and MRSA is therefore not only a medical problem but also a health economics problem. The reason for this is the lack of effective MRSA management in hospitals to prevent the transmission of MRSA to patients and staff.
