GenoType EHEC Reaction Zones

Abbreviation:
EHEC: enterohaemorrhagic E. coli
EPEC: enteropathogenic E. coli
EIEC: Enteroinvasive E. coli

According to the german Infection Protection Act (IfSG) "EHEC" are those STEC (Shigatoxin-producing E.coli) wich are pathogenic for humans. As there is no specific definition for human pathogenic STEC, each STEC has to be regarded as EHEC.

For Shigella dysenteriae Typ 4 in 3 cases of diseases Shigatoxin has been prooven (Gupta, 2007).
