The test is very easy to perform, highly sensitive and economically. DNA extraction can be performed either manually or automated. We went for the automat which we also use for other specimens and diagnostic tests. PCR and detection run fully-automated in the FluoroCycler® instrument which reduces hands-on-time and contamination risk. In the case of a positive result and suspected MDR-TB, we apply GenoType MTBDRplus for the detection of rifampicin and isoniazid resistance.”

Technical Equipment and Options for FluoroType® MTB
Everything you need to perform the FluoroType® MTB assay is a FluoroCycler® for fully automated amplification and detection. This optical thermal cycler will be delivered with a computer and the specific Fluoro-Software which analyses and interprets the test results. According to the sample numbers up to eight FluoroCycler® instruments can be connected to one computer and individually accessed.
Nucleic acid extraction can be optionally automated by using the GenoXtract® instrument. This instrument allows for reliable nucleic acid extraction from different sample materials. Furthermore, it is user-friendly and enables high yield, even from the smallest sample amounts.
Technical Equipment and Options for GenoType Product Series
For the different GenoType assays you only need a thermal cycler (e.g. GTQ-Cycler 24 or GTQ-Cycler 96) for the amplification and a TwinCubator for the manual hybridization. Depending on your sample throughput there are various options for automation: Nucleic acid extraction can be automated by using the GenoXtract instrument and hybridization of up to 48 samples by using the GT-Blot 48. Automated evaluation and result interpretation of the DNA•STRIPs is performed with the GenoScan®.
