“We were looking for a simple and cost-efficient method for TB screening from direct samples. FluoroType^® MTB perfectly fits in our daily routine. The test is very easy to perform, highly sensitive and economically. DNA extraction can be performed either manually or automated. We went for the automat which we also use for other specimens and diagnostic tests. PCR and detection run fully-automated in the FluoroCycler^® instrument which reduces hands-on-time and contamination risk. In the case of a positive result and suspected MDR-TB, we apply GenoType MTBDRplus for the detection of rifampicin and isoniazid resistance.”

“As we find many mycobacteria other than tuberculosis here, we routinely use GenoType Mycobacterium CM for the detection of M. tuberculosis complex and NTM. For further differentiation of MTB complex and identification of BCG, we use GenoType MTBC. In case of treatment failure, we also test for resistance to rifampicin and isoniazid. The line-probe assays of Hain Lifescience are valuable diagnostic tools: with one single platform we can do several tests to get detailed information within short time."

“We routinely test sputum or culture samples with GenoType MTBDRplus for rifampicin and isoniazid resistance. In case of positive results and respective clinical findings, we continue with GenoType MTBDRsl for XDR detection. In case of MTB negative results, we do further species differentiation with GenoType Mycobacterium CM. The line-probe assays not only improved DST in our lab, but made it also extremely fast and efficient.”

“Because of the high rate of MDR-TB cases, we need a fast and efficient method to detect resistance against first-line drugs. With GenoType MTBDRplus we have the possibility to test either sputum or culture samples to detect TB complex and its resistance to rifampicin and isoniazid within five hours only. Since we have about 400 samples per day, we have automated the test procedure in large parts. Hain Lifescience provided us the full range of technical equipment. Technical Equipment and Options for FluoroType^® MTB

Everything you need to perform the FluoroType^® MTB assay is a FluoroCycler^® for fully automated amplification and detection. This optical thermal cycler will be delivered with a computer and the specific Fluoro-Software which analyses and interprets the test results. According to the sample numbers up to eight FluoroCycler^® instruments can be connected to one computer and individually accessed.
Nucleic acid extraction can be optionally automated by using the GenoXtract^® instrument. This instrument allows for reliable nucleic acid extraction from different sample materials. Furthermore, it is user-friendly and enables high yield, even from the smallest sample amounts.
 

Technical Equipment and Options for GenoType Product Series

For the different GenoType assays you only need a thermal cycler (e.g. GTQ-Cycler 24 or GTQ-Cycler 96) for the amplification and a TwinCubator for the manual hybridization. Depending on your sample throughput there are various options for automation: Nucleic acid extraction can be automated by using the GenoXtract instrument and hybridization of up to 48 samples by using the GT-Blot 48. Automated evaluation and result interpretation of the DNA•STRIPs is performed with the GenoScan^®.
